Openings

De Langa once said, “Openings is new life, it is hope...” Her works evoke memories of humanity’s earliest art — megalithic monuments, rock carvings, and geoglyphs. These creations, made from nature and deeply connected to it, reflect one clear intention behind human creativity: a prayer. After many years devoted to painting, De Langa opened “Openings” in her artistic journey — turning to natural materials and traditional craftsmanship as her medium of expression. In this process, she rediscovered herself. The works from this period, as seen in the current LuoHang Artist Residency Exhibition, resemble prehistoric art in their raw simplicity. The techniques are rough and unadorned, emphasizing the inherent value of the materials and the purity of the creative intent. Through repeated touches and handcrafting of thin wood from nature, the shell walls open into cracks — each piece becomes a spiritual journey and a sincere prayer: a prayer for life, and a prayer for hope.
